Aita was in her house and had taken a fall. She was unconscious for an undetermined amount of time. Her family called 9-1-1 and she was taken to the emergency room. From there, she transferred to Select Specialty Hospital in Akron for about 25 days. When she stabilized and was ready to begin her physical therapy program, Aita was referred to Summa Rehab Hospital. Aita could not use her legs very well when she arrived at Summa Rehab. She worked hard with the therapy team every day to get stronger and stronger. Aita had 15-20 steps she need to be able to manage to get to her bedroom when she got home, so she had a lot of work to do. She said that she felt “safe and well cared for” while at Summa Rehab Hospital, and that “everyone treated her nice.” She worked very hard with the therapy staff to meet her goal and return back home with her wonderful, supportive family. She now gets around well in her home and is much stronger than she was.
